What equipment/services does Network Security
encompass? Usually this is part management (Best Practices), part
is how your network is Architected, but mostly what security is needed:
like DMZ’s, IDS/IPS, Passive and on-demand Vulnerability scanning,
content filtering, Anti-Virus, Malware removal, etc.
One can go much
further if you are particularly paranoid, or handle very sensitive
material/Information, one can use, Honey pots, file system
verification, split encryptions keys, encrypted file systems and so on.
This is usually a bit much for an average corporation, but basic
Network Security is a must. You can look at it two ways, you can
install security that basically gives you a check box to keep the
auditors happy, or you can incorporate a complete system that work well
with your current infrastructure and be ready for the future.
Compliance is never going to go away!
